My goal was to create a very realistic AAA game asset to practice hard edge modeling and Improve my Substance Painter skills. I love old things so I chose this old German optical equipment and tried to make it look rugged and used.

The modeling was done in 3DSMax mainly with primitives, splines, and probooleans. This approach makes it easy to branch both high poly and low poly models by simply adjusting the resolution of the 3D elements. Baking and PBR Texturing (including all scratches and holes) were all done in Substance Painter. Marmoset was used to produce the renderings. Photoshop was used to produce alphas and assemble the presentation documents.
