For this project, I created a 3D concept art illustration and thus went outside the constraints of the optimized game art I usually produce.
Modeling was done quickly with the heavy use of sci-fi kit bash elements. I did my UV mapping essentially by projecting in front, top, side, or camera view, with some tweaking afterward. I then did the shading with a mix of textures from the web. A good chunk of time was put into those atmospheric light beams. Some final editing was done in photoshop.
